God's Providential Guidance Is Our History
The Lily of
the Valley Church of God in Christ stops to reflect on how God has led
us over the years. It seems incredible that a congregation which
started with a hand full of people that met in homes for bible study and
prayer has grown to the magnitude that we are today.
But, it's
not about numbers. It's about individuals who have come to know Jesus
Christ as their Saviour, marriages that have been saved, families that have
been solidified, addictions that have been conquered, sins that have
been avoided and needy people who have been helped.

1969
The Lily Of
The Valley Church of God In Christ was founded in May 1969. The Lord
moved on Pastor Fanniel while he was Assistant Pastor at Light House
Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of the Late Pastor Perry.
The first
location was in the downtown area on Polk Street. On the opening day
several Pastor's came to show their support and to be an encouragement
to the ministry. The members present were approximately 4 adults and a
host of children.
1971
After
worshipping there, the church relocated on the north side of Houston to
5914 Wayne Street. During this time the church began to grow and souls
were added to the church. The church then purchased its first van to
transport members that did not have transportation.
1980
After being
lead by God, our pastor was directed to relocate to the Southwest area
of the city. While the new edifice was being built, church services were
held in a children’s nursery of one of the church members. At that time
the membership had grown to approximately 75 members.
1984
Dedication
Services were held on January 15, 1984, with Bishop N.H. Henderson,
the Jurisdiction Prelate of Texas South Central. The Lord
has performed many miracles at this location. The Lord continued to add
to the church. On some occasions there would be standing room only. The
membership had grown from 75 to approximately 250.
2005
The church
purchased the properties adjacent to the present building. God has given
our Pastor the vision to build another sanctuary that would accommodate
the Saints of God. After Prayer, Dedication and Commitment we moved in
our new sanctuary in June 2005. This building seats over 1000.
